That experience led me to photograph at Walden for the next 10 years and to publish two books of photographs with text by Henry David Thoreau. The Porter exhibit changed the way I viewed the landscape and especially trees in springtime.

My second visit to Walden Pond on October 19, 1991 was the single most important day of my photography and resulted in two books and ten more years photographing the area.

I detail these experiences at Eliot Porter and Red Buds and at Henry David Thoreau and Walden and at Wyman’s Meadow.

These landscapes took 28 years to make. In the process I shot 20,000 sheets of 4" x 5" film.

The two groups of images below show work other than landscapes.
