Maine Blueberry Barrens

Some Left Wild, Some Cultivated

Blueberrys in the wild (barrens) cover some 30,000 acres in Maine. A substantial fraction of these are cultivaterd and sold, likely the best flavor blueberries anywhere.

As with almost everything I have photographed I found them by accident traveling on Route 1A toward Acadia Natiomal Park. It looked like 10 acres or more of rainbow (0175) was the first image. Cherryfield was the center of the best fields and I came back often sometimes to find frost and on one trip in the spring a wonderful vista of blossomes in two colors.
