“The Hidden World of the Nearby”

The Overlooked Ordinary

I could not carry my large camera long distances and I was frustrated. I did not find images I wanted to keep. Then, as I drove I began turning my head to the side. Below are four of the images I found along highways that were the morning commute into Boston.

From then on I paid attention to roadsides and along paths as I walked. The slideshow is a sampling of 28 years of looking in places that anyone would call ordinary. I call the collection “The Hidden World of the Nearby.” Click on the two arrows will give you full screen.
