Walden Pond is very much a mystery. To a photographer all of Thoreau's writings leave no clues that say it is aesthetically different from many other ponds.
I went to Walden for two reasons: one of my wife's colleagues in the Massachusetts parks department suggested I go, and by 1991 I had learned that it pays to accept suggestions. You just never know.
